About the artwork -
In the past year, the artist has spent quite a bit of time in Southeast Alaska on Prince of Wales Island. Ever since she tried salmon berries on the coast, they quickly became her favourite berry and wanted to honour them by creating this illustration. Berries have a special place in Indigenous culture, and the artist will always look forward to going to Alaska for now on to pick salmon berries with her partner and have salmon berry pie made with love from his mom.
